BioINSouth is entering a new phase of growth, marked by the establishment of eight regional Bioeconomy HUBs across Southern Europe. These HUBs represent a coordinated effort to bring together regional strengths, expand cooperation, and support the development of a sustainable and resilient bioeconomy in the Mediterranean and beyond.
Each HUB is anchored in a Multi-Actor Regional Group (MARG) that gathers expertise from industry, academia, clusters, public authorities, innovators, and civil society. These groups serve as advisory and consultation bodies, ensuring that the development of the regional bioeconomy is grounded in diverse perspectives and aligned with local needs.
At the core of this work are three key elements:
- Eight Multi-Actor Regional Groups established across the participating regions
- Eight Regional Action Plans currently under development
- Twenty-four co-creation meetings (three per region) bringing stakeholders together to define priorities and shape collaborative solutions
Together, these elements form an integrated architecture for regional engagement, knowledge exchange, and strategic planning. The HUBs are not simply administrative structures; they are living ecosystems designed to promote dialogue, stimulate regional innovation pathways, and reinforce capacities for long-term transformation.
BioINSouth evolves into an initiative that builds bridges across the bioeconomy, connecting regions, sectors, and people. Rooted in eight bioeconomy HUBs in Southern Europe yet open beyond its borders in the Mediterranean, the initiative acts as a catalyst linking ecosystems through shared knowledge, sustainable practices, and cooperation. By fostering inclusiveness, supporting regional policy alignment, and amplifying collective strengths, BioINSouth positions itself as a platform for action and dialogue.
This is only the beginning. As the BioINSouth community grows, so does the momentum for meaningful, collaborative, and region-driven transformation toward a circular and regenerative bioeconomy.
